History

The crate rental concept had been in existence since the early 1960’s and practiced throughout Europe.  Rentacrate, however, was the first company to bring the concept of a reusable plastic crate to the U.S.

Our first operation opened in East Boston in August of 1991. Today, Rentacrate is the country's largest plastic crate and moving equipment rental company, providing a cost-effective alternative to cardboard boxes for commercial and residential moving. With 16 full-service distribution centers nationwide, Rentacrate services commercial, government and residential customers coast to coast.

Rentacrate is constantly innovating, bringing new products and services to a growing list of clientele. In 2007, we expanded our product and service offerings to two additional brands. Through ShredX, Rentacrate provides a complete and comprehensive solution for all shredding needs that helps with most federal privacy regulations. Rentacrate’s E-Scrap brand provides state-of-the-art electronic recycling solutions for businesses.

Throughout its history, Rentacrate has continually infused its dedication to sustainability and environmental responsibility into its business model. Together, Rentacrate, ShredX and E-Scrap offer a comprehensive suite of green solutions for business with products and services that provide eco-friendly options for moving and waste management.

Looking ahead, the Rentacrate family of brands is committed to meeting its mission of providing the largest quality selection of moving equipment and green waste management services at the best price and with unparalleled service.
